Gossip can be good for you

I am back!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

It wasn't like I ever left. I come up here almost everyday * apart from weekends*, I go through my blog list. Enjoy all the beautiful stories, juicy gists and yummy food posts * I see you, Myne*, and sometimes I even get to the comment sections. After all that work, posting something up here is like a chore. I always get discouraged thinking thoughts I shouldn't even be thinking. Anyways, today I overcame that voice that sometimes whispers to me. I am doing this today.

I hope you guys are doing good. It is the February  already. This year is running the good race. January was good and I pray February be better. We are having better weather now minus the heavy snow. Maybe I don't mind the snow when it is fresh, it is after it turns to sleet that I have a problem * like most people I guess* I fell down twice last month. Once I slipped on sleet as I got out of the car and my son was asking me what I was doing on the ground. I didnt know whether to cry or just laugh it off. Where is summer o?

I was listening to a podcast the other day and I heard that according to a recent study carried out by the University of California, Berkeley, It is good to gossip. We used to sing this song growing up; Gossip gossip evil thing, much unhappiness it brings; If you can't say something nice, don't talk at all is my advice. According to this study, engaging in pro-social gossip is beneficial. Not all gossip is idle chatter, sometimes if you are trying to warn someone about dishonest or untrustworthy people that translates to something good, so even though it is termed as gossip, it is good gossip.  You can find the report here. You know how sometimes you have this juicy gist and you can't just wait to share it with someone, but when you think it would be gossiping you just keep it to  yourself or you put it down in your journal and forget about it. But no matter how bad a rap gossip has gathered, people still indulge. The tabloids still make good sales . So do you gossip or will you?

  1. Ugh, i hate the snow lol. The only time i ever realy remember slipping though was when i was trying to get on the school bus in maybe kindergarten or 1st grade. Slipped, fell and slid halfway under the bus. Not cool.

Anywho, i am more of a gossip receiver. I think i have a trustworthy face or something because people love to tell me stuff lol. But if i must gossip its usually about my own business or about stuff everyone already knows. I'm not the type to spread other people's business around.

    1. Under the school bus? Ha!

I also like to receive gossip. I hate the malicious stuff though

  2. I love gossip but not really the personal type, more like news, the ones already out there. But even then only in small doses, when it begins to get ugly and hurtful, it turns me off quickly.

Thanks for checking out my food posts :)

  6. There are good gossip and bad gossips.I sort of engage in the good gossips.Meaning,i enjoy the type of gossip where i don't stop talking because the subject walks in.

    1. That would be awkward to stop talking once the subject walks in

  8. Gossiping in the way put forward in the research is probably okay. But generally I'm one to stay out of other people's personal business unless I'm reading a tabloid/celeb gossip blog.

Hope you don't have anymore falls. Take care.

  15. welcome back b...... ha gossip, we all do it... whether consciously or unconsciously/maliciously or not. I guess the mature thing is to listen to your conscience and know when to stop. Plus not cool to carry out pple personal issues around.

Pls check my blog, you have been tagged on the Leibster award. x

  16. I agree with the others-if you cannot repeat what you said to the person you were talking about, then it's unhealthy; but we have all gossiped at one point or the other. Laughed at the snow incident, kpele o. Isn't it so like children to state the painfully obvious, even when we want to act as if it did not happen?

  17. Blessings.....
I guess it depends on the type of gossip. If its gossiping for the sake of gossiping with no purpose then I don't agree. If its gossip, say like you heard someone using something that has dangerous potential impact on the body and perhaps you were pondering using said product then that's a good thing because there is a lesson to be learnt with potentially great health benefits.

To gossip to be malicious, disrespectful, demoralizing and deviant can never be a good thing. The key is intent, so one has to ask their selves, what is the intent of this "discussion," is it to harm or inform and transform.

    peace.
